British lawyers may be sent to the courts of Rwanda in order to implement the agreement between the two countries to receive immigrants living in the UK illegally.
After the Supreme Court in England invalidated the agreement that the UK has with Rwanda to accept immigrants, now there is a new revised agreement that may determine that these British lawyers will work in the courts of Rwanda. the rights of these immigrants when they are brought to Rwanda.
Minister Lucy Frazer, who is in charge of the work of the Council of Ministers in the United Kingdom, told the British radio BBC, that those in charge would carefully follow the decision to send their lawyers to Rwanda to help solve the legal problems there.
The Daily Telegraph reports that these British lawyers in Rwanda will be in charge of advising Rwandan judges on refugee cases, appeals of immigrants brought to Rwanda and other legal issues. Only this newspaper adds that Rwanda cannot accept any activity that resembles colonialism or interference in its laws.
It is expected that this agreement will be agreed soon, because there is information that the minister of security in England, James Cleverly, may arrive in Rwanda this week to sign it. After that, this bill will be taken to the Parliament of Great Britain confirming that Rwanda is a safe country to receive immigrants from Great Britain.
Minister Lucy Frazer, when asked if the UK will send its lawyers to the courts of Rwanda, replied:
“There is still a lot of work to do but I’m sure the people in charge are there and they are working on it carefully.” He continued:
“I know that the Home Secretary, James Cleverly, is now working with Rwanda on a new agreement, and we will bring legislation in due course.”
After the Supreme Court in Great Britain invalidated the previous agreement between Rwanda and Great Britain to receive immigrants, the British government immediately announced that it is not going to find another way to send these immigrants. Another option is to pass a law that approves it through the legislature.
The UK has recently announced that it will give more money to Rwanda after the 140 million pounds it was given after signing the agreement.
The Sunday Times reports that when Rwanda signs another new agreement, it will receive another 15 million pounds.
