On Saturday, December 9, a two-day training session on providing first aid began at the Rwanda Police headquarters in Kacyiru.
It is a training aimed at increasing the knowledge of the police to help victims of accidents or other sudden illnesses while waiting for the ambulance to take them to the doctor, It is a training organized by the Rwanda Police in collaboration with the National Center for Health Care (Healthy People Rwanda) attended by 35 police officers from all over the police stations in which training is given especially to those working in the medical department.
The head of the medical department of the Rwanda Police, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Dr. Celestin Mureramanzi, Said that the main objective of the training is to increase the police’s knowledge on how to provide first aid in order to better fulfill their duties and to train others, He said, “The aim is to increase the participants’ knowledge of security management and to help train their colleagues to have the same knowledge.”
SP Dr. Emile Musoni, who works at Kanombe Hospital in the emergency department and is one of those who are providing this training, returned to the basic things that a person who is going to provide assistance there and other things he should pay attention to.
He said, “When you are going to provide first aid, there are different things that you should take care of, first of all, see what happened to the person you are going to help, because the helper is injured or caught, the condition of the place you find him if he does not cause other dangers to him and yourself.”
He went on to show them basic first aid equipment including ventilators, blood stops and how to use them, an example of how to give first aid to someone who has been in an accident, how to handle it and what to touch to hear it. how he is and how he breathes, when you are going to give him breath and how often you are going to press on his chest and release.
The participants of this training said that it is important for them and that it would be good if it is given all over the country and every Rwandan has this knowledge.
