Residents with the Mental problems were requested to be included in some of the “Povert fighting programs” such as VUP as to support and help them to live a better standard of living and deal with their health financially.
Claire Nancy Misago the RBC Leader responsible for mental healthy said Rwanda has developed as there was a creation of the the Association and Cooperatives to look after these people with such problem of mental healthy and requested the idea to add them in the VUP program to support them with their financially stability.
It’s among the the long interview she gave out in the last meeting organized by ARCT-Ruhuka {Trauma Advicers Association} responsible for the people with mental illiness and other related issues, Where she asked for the Government’s hand in caring about Mental illiness.
She said that “There is an Association of the people wih mental problems selected in 23 Districts where by the Patients is among 1800, that let us care about them and support them in whatever they do, Especially in financial way.”
She continued saying that “Those people with Mental Illiness and problems, Those with Trauma problems and those with Financial problems should all join the VUP Programs, Mituelle programs such that they easily get the Sponsor and be provided with any services.”
Claire Nancy Misago said that it’s an big step that those people atleast recommended to join those associations and Cooperatives but again she said that it can lead to a big harvest when they are given another support within those associations because you find that with their mental illiness they are even poor.
She said that “To be assisted within those associations in order to change their standards of living and delop themselves should be joining the VUP’s programs and other Poverty fighting Programs to make a better standards of living.”
Misago said that not to be helped in a good way turns to be the reason for those people with Mental illiness to live on the streets and when they get the treatment comes back at hope and lack what business to do because of the lack of the capital.
