Zambia: Churches have been ordered not to pray for more than 2 hours to prevent Cholera.

The Zambian government has ordered the churches in the country to cancel the preaches and that they should not last for more than two hours due to special measures to prevent the Cholera epidemic that is threatening the whole country.

The directive instructions issued by Ndiwa Mutelo, the director general of religious affairs, also prohibits the sale of food in churches, These extraordinary measures have been taken by the Government of Zambia in order to reduce the risk of the spread of the Cholera disease that threatens the country, whereby the worshipers are asked to take care and avoid shaking hands and hugging each other.

In a statement issued by Mutelo, stressed that it’s very necessary for the need to strengthen the cleanliness of places used for worship in the Churches, All the Temples were also asked to prepare clean drinking water, arranging places to wash hands and prepare insecticides especially for prayer gatherings.

The strict measures began after a cholera outbreak in the country that has infected more than 7,800 people since October 2023, Africa News reported that in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health in Zambia has reported more than 400 new infections, including 18 deaths.
