Who is Dr Thomas Mensah – The African engineer who described as one of the greatest minds of the 20th century.

Dr Thomas was born in Africa in Ghana, how is chemical engineer known as significant contributions
to the fields of fiber optics and nanotechnology.

He was born in 1950 in Kumasi Ghana. he has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana before he went to United States from advanced his studies.

On 24 February 2017, International television CBS News named Dr Mensah’s high achievement in which it called him “the Engineer who revolutionised internet”. After that Dr Mensah told an American TV in interview that social media in this days is big thing.

He was one of the four inventors of fibre optics and this allowed the internet because he has fibre optics which connect Africa, China, Japan and everywhere in world.
Dr Mensha is an expert in fibre optics and nano technology, But according today his work, fibre optics would not be what it is today.

But sadly most of Africans have not heard about him, but surely his work has made it possible for world to enjoy its current high level of digital communication and even he has helped the US military to asset its supremacy in the field of laser guided missiles.

Dr. Mensah, while working for American company, Corning Glass Works, was able to help improve and commercialize a fiber optic technology the company had been working on for 15 years without success.

He currently has developed a smart watch which he calls “Hug Watch.” According to him, Hug Watch can change TV stations by serving as a remote control, also makes and receives calls.

Dr. Thomas Mensah granted the interview on the back of a series of lectures he is expected to deliver at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from November 22 to 25, 2017 dubbed RP Baffour Lectures.
