The fighting between the army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) and one of the M23, has continued, where the group says that the opposing side would attack them in their various bases.
It was announced by the M23 Political Spokesperson, Lawrence Kanyuka, on the morning of Saturday, January 27, 2024, Kanyuka said that since 7:00 a.m., the participation of the Congolese state consists of FARDC, FDLR, rebels, rebels, the Burundian army and the SADC, “if they kill the people as usual.”
Kanyuka went on to say, “They attacked our various bases in Karuba, Kingi, Karenga, Negenero, Mbuhi and nearby areas.” He continued, “M23 has continued to defend itself professionally and cannot tolerate the killing of civilians in the liberated areas that we want to liberate.”
This group has once again given an alarm to the international community to take action, because the killing of civilians in Mweso area and nearby areas has taken another step.
