An interviewer with the French news agency (AFP) confirmed this information, saying, “Yes, it is. Goma airport was bombed last night.”
It is news and confirmed by one of the security guards who did not want his name to be published in the media, explaining that none of these explosions did any damage.
He also announced that until now the source of these explosions has not been known but that the authorities would investigate. He said, “Those responsible are on site, they would check where these bombs came from.”
According to IGIHE sources, the bombs were directed to the place where the Sukhoi-25 fighter jet was parked, and it is said that a part of it was shot down. A large number of soldiers were immediately sent to the airport to tighten its security, but it did not prevent civilian traffic from continuing.
This is the third bomb attack in the city of Goma since the fighting between the RDC and the M23 armed group began in late 2021.
There was an incident in the Mugunga area on February 6, when the RDC and M23 soldiers accused each other of shooting.
