On Saturday, February 24, 2024, the Prime Minister, Dr Edouard Ngirente, represented President Paul Kagame in the farewell ceremony of Hage Geingob, who led Namibia.
Geingob’s death was reported on 04 February 2024, at the Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek City.
It has been a while since Geingob was diagnosed with cancer in the United States.
Immediately after his death, President Kagame expressed his condolences to Geingob’s wife, Monica Geingos, his family and the people of Namibia, remembering Geingob’s role in the struggle for the liberation of his country.
He said: “I condole my sister Monica Kalondo Geingos, the entire family and people of Namibia for the death of my brother and friend, President Hage Geingob.
His leadership in the struggle for the liberation of Namibia, his tireless work for his people and his contribution to the United Africa will be remembered for generations to come.
On February 10, 2024 Mrs. Jeannette Kagame went to Namibia to confront Geingob’s wife, Monica Geingos.
Geingob’s body was brought to the Independence Stadium in Windhoek accompanied by military vehicles and a helicopter.
There will be a farewell ceremony for him on this Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Geingob is being buried this Sunday 25 February 2024.
Nangolo Mbumba who became the Vice President of Namibia replaced Geingob, based on the provisions of the Constitution of this country.
