President Paul Kagame said that the relationship between Rwanda and Guinea has started to produce tangible results through the cooperation of different institutions and the agreement signed by both countries.
The Head of State returned this Thursday when he received the President of Guinea, Lt Gen Mamadi Doumbouya and the officials accompanying him in Urugwiro Village President Kagame first criticized the country and its people while they are still dealing with the consequences of the fire that took a large storage of petroleum products, “We fully support them,” he said.
A fire engulfed a warehouse in the Kaloum area of Conakry on December 18, 2023, killing 23 people and injuring over 240 others, President Kagame said that he had a private conversation with Lt Gen Mamadi Doumbouya and it gave him confidence.
He said, “What Rwanda and Guinea want to achieve is the economy, peace and security for our people. Our mutual relationship has started to produce good results through different sectors and the agreements we have signed.”
“We are also looking at opportunities for collaboration in technology, trade and investment .”He said that Rwanda is happy to work with Guinea and share the program it used to find solutions and continue the exchange of knowledge between the two countries.
President Kagame said that it is necessary to find solutions to the problems facing the two countries through increased cooperation. “We have everything we need, the only thing left is to know how to use it properly,” he said.
He praised Doumbouya’s efforts in continuing to lead the transition in his country, which is expected to end this year, Lt Gen Mamadi Doumbouya said that his visit to Rwanda aims to expand joint relations. He continued: “You trusted us, you were one of the heads of state who visited us in Conakry. I promise you are not wrong. We will do everything possible to improve the mutual relations between the two countries.”
He said that all citizens will do their best to expand cooperation in terms of communication, infrastructure, and transportation.
