Last night’s cabinet meeting on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 concluded that General Patrick Nyamvumba will be the Ambassador of Rwanda to Tanzania. Fatou Harerimana took office at the end of September, 2023.
Fatou also went there to replace Major General Charles Karamba who remains the representative in the Republic of Djibouti.
What the Government of Rwanda has done is to decide that General Nyamvumba will be represented in Dar-es Salaam, but, as usual elsewhere, Tanzania will have to approve him.
Fatou Harerimana was also nominated to represent Islamabad in Pakistan.
Regarding Patrick Nyamvumba, this officer was born on June 11, 1967.
His most recent assignment was as Minister of Homeland Security.
Between 2013 and 2019, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the Rwandan Army.
Before that, from 2009 to 2013, Nyamvumba led the United Nations forces sent to Darfur to restore peace.
They were working in a unit called the AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
In addition to studying at the Nigerian Defense Academy, Nyamvumba served as the Commander of the Rwandan Land Forces, headed the Nyakinama Military Academy in Musanze District and became the President of the High Military Court. between 2007 and 2009.
There were other duties that he was given in the previous year.
In Tanzania, General Nyamvumba will replace Mrs. Fatou Harerimana who will represent the interests of Rwanda in Pakistan.
