The administration of the City of Kigali announces that the City has made good progress in terms of infrastructure, roads, buildings, etc. but that it must be done in compliance with the building laws.
Dusengiyumva Samuel, the Mayor of the City of Kigali, says that although the City has reached an interesting place, there are those who continue to violate the construction laws.
The inspection of the City of Kigali was carried out and people were found to have built illegally.
He said, “There are those who build without permission and some build in the trees of the roads and those roads are the ones we all have to use.
There are also those who have built residential houses on the land intended for agriculture.
On the other hand, there are builders who have already changed the documents they were given and therefore violated the requirements.
The City of Kigali says that all this affects the planning and development of the City, as well as hindering the provisions of the construction laws.
14 houses in Gasabo District are going to be demolished, adding to the others that are being demolished.
He says, “All these houses are built without permission. That is, there are times when you build with a permit, but if you take a bridge and build a house on it, that is not allowed and it should be removed.”
The city of Kigali issues 3,000 documents every month, so it is increasing efforts to make them visible, hoping that people will avoid doing illegal things.
The City of Kigali reminds its residents that it will not tolerate people who do not comply with building regulations.
