The management of the Shrine of Our Lady of Jambo in Kibeho in Nyaruguru District, has announced that they want this holy land to become like a city so that a visitor can find everything he wants and it will be done in a modern way, through 25 planned projects that will be realized and seen 25 hectares of land for commercial purposes.

The world of 2014 and the world of 2024 are markedly different because previously there was no paved road leading to the empty land, where Catholics from all walks of life pray.

In these areas, there are now cities, when the visitation began, they were parts of the countryside. This land in Nyaruguru is also expected to have 25 projects that will be carried out in the long-term planning, but at least by August 2024, there should be land that will be used for the activities.

He said, “That’s what we are asking all those who love Kibeho, at least find a place where these activities can be done for you, because you don’t want to cram everything into this place. Kangana is sick, starting from here in front of the police at the parking lot, and going to the school. 100. Support is needed to get land quickly and other works will come gradually.”

He continued: “Do you see someone who comes to the Basilica of Our Lady and is greeted in the courtyard as if he were greeted at the gate? So where is the gate, that’s where the image of the Virgin Mary went, I thank the government that helped us find the parking lot and put the image of the Virgin Mary in it, you see that when you get here you really feel like you’re back in Kibeho”

Father Harelimana said that if they get more land, instead of receiving those who go to Kibeho, the entrance gates will be built, and public talks will be held instead of starting in the Church.
He said, “Say that we are going to start a discussion in the Church, maybe you should give it regarding the teaching but if necessary, otherwise the Church is for prayer and not for public discussion, that is why there is a need for a place for public discussion.”

Also in need of construction is a library, where people can sit and explore the history of Kibeho and read old documents about the events that took place in Kibeho.

He said, “We don’t have a library here and you can see that since 1981, there has been a lot of talk about Kibesho and you can see that someone can find a place to sit and dig and even reach the funeral documents, now the documents are buried at home. Otherwise, it should be in a place where people who are capable and suitable can do research that helps people to know what is really happening and what is saving us.”
In Kibeho, important leaders such as ambassadors and other high officials in different governments, both in Africa and Europe, often go to people.

On February 8, 2024, for the first time in history this holy land hosted the President of Poland Andrzej Sebastian Duda.

Father Harelimana announced that there is no place that has the capacity to receive such big guests as there are, so that they can enjoy different services.

He said, “Now when we need a place to receive leaders like the president who came, yes, there is a need for a place where they see it as a real historical place, a historical place they like, I agree with that, but there should be other places where they can receive services, not to mention that I came just sit down and tell him the history of Kibeho, including the services, which are needed.”
