Sunak is worried about the upcoming election on the plan to send immigrants to Rwanda

In December 2023, the governments of the two countries renewed the agreement on cooperation in solving migration problems and economic development; he has the main purpose of sending migrants to Kigali.

In order for this plan to be implemented, it was required that the members of both houses of the British Parliament vote and approve it.

In the first round of voting [which is like the head of parliament], the legislators supported Sunak by a majority of votes.

The next election is scheduled for the final stage of the Assembly [comparable to the Senate], only Sunak in the ‘People’s Forum’ interview prepared by GB News, expressed that although he sees sending immigrants to Rwanda as the only way to solve their problem, he is not sure that this plan will be approved.

He said, “In order to solve this whole problem, we need a solution. We need to say that if you come to our country illegally, you will not stay there. We will send you back to your country if it is safe, like we did in Albania or other places and that is Rwanda’s plan.”
“We want this program to be approved in the Parliament but unfortunately we do not have a majority in the final phase of the Assembly. Now everyone is trying to stop us at this stage. We saw that in the first round.”

Among those who Sunak identifies as those who will hinder his plan are the members of the Labor party and he testifies that some of the Conservatives would be discussed to turn their backs on him; which makes sending migrants to Rwanda impossible.
