Skol Brewery Ltd has announced that it will start a campaign to plant 6000 trees based on the goals won by the Rayon Sports women’s team.
SKOL in collaboration with the Orion Basketball Club are going to start this campaign called ‘One Shot one Tree’ to plant these trees in order to preserve the environment in Rwanda.
Benurugo Kayinamura Emilienne, Publicity Officer at Skol Brewery Ltd said that their partnership with Orion BC and Rayon Sports for women aims to plant as many trees as possible in Rwanda.
She said, “As a SKOL company, we saw that it was a good project aimed at preserving the environment, we saw that we could also participate, we decided to sign with them, and we will plant more trees together.
Today we signed the agreement, but in the coming days we will start the activities where we will plant different trees.
This year, we will plant 6,000 trees, but the number of trees we will plant will depend on the number of goals Rayon Sports for women will go to the group.
She went on to say that for one goal of Rayon Sports they will shoot 50 trees, which means that when they win three in one game, they will shoot 150 trees.
She said that the season will come to an end and they will know the goals they will shoot because of the goals Rayon Sports women won only saying that the possible savings is 6000.
Madam Benurugo said that this year they will plant trees in three seasons where the first one will be this month where there is no change they will plant them in the community at the end of this month and the second one will be done in June and the other in November.
She said that the main reason why they joined the tree planting program is that there are still many disasters in Rwanda, so SKOL wants to help the country preserve the environment and help in the campaign that reminds Rwandans of the importance of trees.
SKOL will pay for all the trees that will be planted while Orion BC will be the one to do it because it has a partnership with the owners.
The manager of Orion Basketball Club, Mutabazi James said that they have partners including One Acre fund who have supported them with as many trees as possible and that they started this program long ago.
