The singer Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, from Colombia who became known as Shakira in music, said that after breaking up with Gerard Piqué, she did not expect to find love like the one they shared.
In 2022, Piqué, who was a defender of the FC Barcelona team, and Shakira decided to separate after 12 years of marriage, due to back-burning problems and poor harmony, The 47-year-old singer split from the former soccer star and they have two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine.
In 2010, when Shakira sang at the opening ceremony of the World Cup finals in South Africa, she met Piqué and they started dating, moving to Spain and getting married. Shakira, who is gearing up to release her seventh studio album, spoke to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe about her top priorities in her love life.
He replied, “Friendship. I think friendship lasts longer than love. I just think that the experiences you have in love, the mountains you cry and the valleys you go down are also important in people’s lives.”
He continued : “Love is good, I love it but now I testify that I still prioritize friendship. Love I think will last forever for me. Those are some of my dreams that I haven’t been able to achieve but maybe it will happen.”
This is where Shakira started saying that she is not sure that she will ever find love again like she loved Gerard Piqué. “I don’t know if I’ll ever have the same love again. Maybe it won’t happen, I don’t even know.” He said that he usually did not value friendship more than love because he always wanted someone to be together and have a family, but when he broke up with Piqué, his friends were close to him in difficult times.
He said: “But when that [love] wasn’t there anymore, I lost my boys and I had to go through those dark and difficult times in my life, friends were there, and they really protected me, they showed me purpose and real life.”
This woman who was popular in the song “Hips don’t Lie” said that although she may grow old without a boyfriend, she will be surrounded by her best friends in life and insists that her experiences did not stop her from believing in people because they have a lot of good things to share with someone.
He said, “It is better to believe than not to believe. It is better to believe and also to look because it helps you discover betrayal rather than distrust.”
In the interview with Zane Lowe, Shakira said that one of her priorities is to teach her children that there are many good people in the world, so they will be motivated to have good friends who will benefit them.
“I think there’s a lot of good in people, there’s a lot of it, and it doesn’t matter if you’re going through [horrible] things in life, there’s always something to look forward to,” he said.
Shakira is currently preparing for the release of her 7th album called ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ which means ‘Women don’t cry anymore’, and it will include some of the songs that come back from her breakup with Piqué, especially the song called “Te Felicito with Rauw Alejandro” she sang powerful lyrics which are believed to be after she grabbed her husband and pulled him back.
