Rwandamart is a new way of connecting traders and buyers on the market, which is going to promote what is being done in Rwanda, the national government says that this is a good opportunity to establish the private sector and benefit them.
On this Thursday, June 22, 2023, the National Post Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Technology and the German agency GIZ, launched the business website ‘Rwandanart’ going to help some of the traders who have their products to introduce them to the international market, even to promote what is done in Rwanda.
Before this year until the 2nd month, it was still a project that was monitored by the German company GIZ, from the 2nd month, the government decided that Rwandamart should be monitored by the Post Office, which will continue to develop it.
The Permanent Secretary of State in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr. Richard Niwenshuti, also continued to explain the results he expects from this website and the opportunities that will reach the traders who will have their products on this website.
He said, “This site is not only for business, it is also a forum (Center) that helps those who want to trade using technology. It is a business website that uses the Internet, but there is also help in the E-commerce forum that will be given to those who want to trade using the website or even to consumers who want to buy in that way.
“This is why we believe that this website linking to the services of the Post is an added value for buyers and sellers because the Post will play a role in training and helping these traders in collaboration with other different institutions. So whether you buy products here and want to send them abroad, the Post Office will help you, you can buy them from Made in Rwanda, maybe you want Chinese flour, flowers or vegetables using Rwandanart, the Post Office will immediately enter its services and other services to deliver goods that are taken abroad. they are available and we believe that they will reach the consumer in a safe and effective way”.
So far 760 retailers have registered on the site so that their products can be tracked while the Post aims to reach at least 3,000 retailers by the end of this year.
Although the Rwandamart site still has a lot to do with a considerable budget to make its work perfect, the partners are required to invest a lot of money, while the Post Office alone has planned in its budget no less than 50,000 .000 to enable them to carry out these activities.
