Rwanda: Election Schedule Announced

The National Electoral Commission, NEC, has announced that the Presidential Elections and Combined Deputies Elections will be held.

It is contained in the schedule of this Commission signed by the Director General of this Commission, Oda Gasinzigwa, who posted on X last night.

While the actual election will be between Taliki 14 and Taliki 15, July, 2024, the announcement of the provisional election results will be done on July 20 and the announcement of the final results will be no later than July 27, 2024.

The National Electoral Commission says that combining the elections of the President of the Republic and the Deputies was done in order to speed things up and to avoid using a large budget and for things that are suitable at the time of gathering.
The general assembly of the Senate that met on Monday, November 27, 2023 approved the basis of the draft law amending the law n° 001/2019.OL of 29/07/2019 regulating elections.

This law governing elections has been amended so that elections can be held in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda, especially in its article 75 which provides that the elections of Deputies are held on the same day as those of the President of the Republic.

Holding these elections at the same time will help Rwanda save 7 Billion Frw and the time to prepare and vote will be used effectively.
