The FPR Inkotanyi has started the process of electing its representatives in the general elections scheduled for July 2024, including the President of the Republic.
This primary election for the president of this organization started on February 24, 2024 from the village level, It is expected that he will be taxed at the national level in the General Council of the organization scheduled for March 2024. In this election, the candidates for the position of President will start from the village level while those who want to campaign for the position of deputy will start from the district level.
In each village, one person is elected to represent it in the elections for the position of Head of the Nation, and they will be elected at higher levels, In a press conference on February 23, 2024, the General Secretary of RPF Inkotanyi, Wellars Gasamagera, had said that members should be more prudent in electing their representatives.
He said, “Rwandese people know how to be prudent and cautious, especially during elections. That’s what we ask of you. Prudence, discernment and good judgment to choose leaders who have something to offer.” He pointed out that the laws of the RPF Inkotanyi provide that every member is given the right to campaign, which is why this method was used.
He said, “Our law has a process to choose a candidate, and at the first level of the village, every member has the right to campaign or advertise for each other, so if we deny his right, we will only accept the request of the Chairman and we will go through that process.”
He continued, “It means that he will also go through that path, then if the members trust him and I have no doubt, we know him, he is our chairman, we know what he is doing for the community and Rwanda, they will trust him.”
In Rasaniro village, Mariba village in Rusenge sector in Nyaruguru district, many people participated in these elections, Mukamanabano Agnes expressed that this election reinforces the value of each member. He said, “This shows the role of the replacement of the member from the village, and shows that the community is not only at the top, but also at the bottom, and also shows the role given to him in installing the leaders who represent us.”
In Gatenga Cell, Gatenga sector in Kicukiro District, members of the RPF Inkotanyi participated in the elections at the village level in large numbers, These members say that they will not dream that the date of the election of the President of the Republic is coming so that they can vote for him in large numbers.
The leader of RPF Inkotanyi in Gatenga district, Kalisa Emmanuel, said that they were not excited about the election day.
