The President of the Republic of South Sudan and the Head of the East African Community (EAC), Salva Kiir Mayardit arrived in Rwanda for a one-day working visit.
Arriving in Rwanda at the Kigali International Airport in Kanombe on Thursday, February 22, Salva Kiir was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Dr Vincent Biruta, The presidency of South Sudan announced that during this one-day visit, it is planned that he will hold talks with his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, on the problems of insecurity in the East of the DRC and how to find solutions.
The Spokesperson of the Presidency of South Sudan, Lily Adhieu Martin, announced that his visit as the Head of the East African Community, should continue in countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi, where he will talk with the elders of those countries.
Eyeradio.org newspaper reported that Salva Kiir visited these EAC countries, after the 37th regular meeting of the African Union in Ethiopia, he requested that the ongoing conflict in the East of the DRC be resolved based on friendship and brotherhood characterized in the countries of the Region.
Salva Kiir planned this visit in order to defuse the growing tension between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, after the country has long said that the M23 group is supported by Rwanda.
These are accusations that Rwanda does not stop showing that it has nothing to do with it, instead it accuses the RDC of working with the FDLR group, which is made up of those who participated in the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 and provocative actions that include bombings that have been fired on its land, and planes The FARDC have invaded Rwanda’s airspace at different times.
In order to eliminate this evil spirit, various methods have been established including the Luanda talks, the Nairobi talks and the coordination that has been involved with different countries although so far all these have not yielded any concrete results.
