The President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, honered and showed the Mindfulness on the bravery of the Late Hage Geingob of Namibia, who passed away on February 4, 2024.
The Office of the President of Namibia confirmed the news, stating that he died at the Lady Pohamba Hospital, located in the capital, Windhoek. Two weeks ago, the office announced that Geingob had cancer, President Kagame on the 5th of February expressed his condolences to Geingob’s wife, Monica Geingos, and the people of Namibia, allowing them to reflect on the courage that characterized this Head of State.
He said: “I am deeply sorry for my sister Monica Geingos, her entire family and the people of Namibia for the loss of my brother and friend President Hage Geingob, His leadership through the struggle for the liberation of Namibia, his tireless service to his people and his efforts to unite Africa will be remembered for generations to come.”
The 82-year-old Geingob has been the President of Namibia since 2015, stepping down from the role of Prime Minister for over two years.
From 1990 to 2002 he was the Prime Minister of Namibia, from 2008 to 2012 he became the Minister of Trade and Industry, His second term, which is also his last, was supposed to end at the end of this year 2024. According to the Constitution, Dr Nangolo Mbumba, who was the Vice President of Namibia since 2018, immediately replaced Geingob.
The Office of the President of Namibia announced that Dr Mbumba was sworn in on February 4, 2024.
