President Paul Kagame held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The Office of the Head of State announced that the two leaders met on Tuesday, February 13, on the sidelines of the 11th World Governments Summit, which is taking place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, In a message posted on X of Urugwiro Village, it is said that President Kagame and Erdoğan held talks focused on expanding relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The two countries normally have very good relations with each other having representatives in the other through embassies, In January 2023, Rwanda and Turkey signed three cooperation agreements aimed at further developing bilateral relations. The agreement was signed during the working visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Rwanda. This agreement deals with cooperation in the fields of culture, science, technology and innovation.

Currently, in Rwanda there is one of the construction projects involving Turkish companies including Kigali Convention Center, BK Arena and works related to the renovation of Stade Amahoro, As a result of these activities and various other activities of the Turks, their investment in Rwanda increased to 465 million dollars.

On the other hand, figures show that Rwanda’s exports to Turkey increased from 31 million US dollars in 2019 to 178 million US dollars in 2022.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the Turks see the country of Rwanda as a good place to invest, due to the good policies and good governance that President Kagame has in mind.
