Nigerian Nollywood actor John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu has passed away at the age of 62 after suffering a heart attack at the Evercare Hospital.
The news of Mr Ibu’s death came to light in the wee hours of Friday 02 March 2024, according to Emeka Rollas, the President of the Screen Actors Guild of Nigeria, In his message to the country’s cinematographers, as well as Nigerians in general, he said: “I am deeply saddened to inform you that Mr Ibu has passed away, May his soul rest in peace.”
Mr Ibu passed away after a long battle with blood clots in his legs, which led doctors to amputate his leg in December last year,
In July 2023, John Okafor celebrated the 40th anniversary of his acting career, and he announced at that time that since he started his career he had acted in more than 200 films, Some of the popular movies he has starred in include ‘Mr Ibu and His Son’, with Chinedu Ikedieze, ‘Police Recruit’, ‘9 Wives’, ‘A Fool at 40’, ‘Ibu in Prison’ and many more.
