Kenyan rock group Sauti Sol have announced that they are going to play their last concerts before going on break “indefinitely”, news that many have expressed as deeply saddened.

This is a strong and popular music group in the region that has been working together for almost 20 years, consisting of four young men Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, and Savara Mudigi.

In a statement on Instagram, the group said that the shows they are about to play in the US, Europe, and Canada are “a chance for fans” to see Sauti Sol together “one last time”.

Many fans of their music in the region, especially in Kenya, have expressed their dismay at the separation of these popular men in various songs such as; Suzanna, Kuliko Jana, Melanin, Isabella, Nerea, or Unconditionally Bae.

On the announcement of their breakup, one of their fans said: “Be united guys, we really love you…in Kenyan music scene…I’m sorry”

Another said: “This comment I delete, Sauti Sol is the only ‘band’ in Africa apart from Kenya…This comment I delete.”

“I’m definitely not ready for this,” said another.

And another said: “If you break up, the only person who can continue is Bien..”

Another said: “Please visit some of our African countries before you part ways. Africa loves you and your music.”

There is no known reason why the music group is going to stop working together, only that the members said that they will remain friends and connected with their projects together.

They said that at the end of this year they will do a final concert for their fans in Kenya.
