President Kagame returned to this in an interview with Kenyan NTV television, where he returned to the journey of change in rebuilding Rwanda and his role in making the country today prosperous.
President Kagame said that he is proud of having played a role in helping Rwanda to rebuild and prevent it from becoming a country that has nothing to offer but helping it to achieve development that no one could have imagined in the past 30 years.
He said: “I am proud to have played a role in building Rwanda and preventing it from becoming a country that would fail again, which is not the case and is on the right track. The country has gone from a place that no one imagined 30 years ago.”
Another thing that makes the President very happy is that Rwanda has made significant progress in the past 30 years, where people have come together, lived their lives properly, and strive to integrate with other parts of the world, and everyone is looking out for each other. he will improve everyone.
He also said that what Rwanda has achieved is not a surprise to foreigners and the citizens themselves, but it is the result of the patience and dedication of Rwandans who believe that they can go through problems and come out of it positive.
“That’s what makes me proud. It didn’t come out of one thing but unity and working together is what makes me proud.” The Head of State emphasized that all these are his holy places, saying that Rwanda has a high level of security, stability, and an increasingly prosperous economy.
President Kagame said that when he sleeps he sleeps well, and he wants to have enough time to sleep and sleep after creating a country that was left empty but today is respected internationally.
He said: “I actually have a good night’s sleep. I sleep well but I need to have that time to sleep because we created this country for almost nothing. It is the country that was at the lowest level that any country has ever reached and is trying to rebuild itself and reach the top.”
He went on to say that Rwanda has come from a far place where he compared it to a long hole, today the goals are to continue to receive the activities that have been achieved in the sectors that include the economy and welfare, security and cooperation with others.
When asked how he accepted the nomination of a candidate by the RPF Inkotanyi party in the Presidential elections scheduled for July this year, President Kagame said that despite this, he asked the members to consider who should replace him.
He said: “I told the RPF members that they should not wait for me to choose my successor. I don’t want anyone to think I’m running for President because I wasn’t sure I’d still be here today. Let’s find someone else.”
President Kagame also expressed that when he decides not to campaign again, people should not worry about the life of Rwanda after him because efforts have been made to build the capacity of people and national institutions.
In that interview, he said: “Even today if I tell them that I am the only person I know, they quickly get together and choose someone. Someone who is definitely not like me, someone who will be different, who will be better and maybe have a place to guide us.
That is why there are institutions that we have been building because if that person wants to have a place to lead us, there are those institutions that will stop and say that we do not want to go anywhere.”
