The European Union has criticized the decision made by the country of Burundi to close the border with Rwanda, asking the two countries to sit down and discuss.
It was announced by the Director of the Union of Buryayi in charge of international relations in Africa, Rita Laranjinha, when she launched the discussions held in Bujumbura, Burundi on the cooperation between Europe and the Great Lakes countries.
Rita Laranjinha said that there is no benefit at all in closing the border between the neighboring countries as done by Burundi, but that it affects the flow of people and things.
He said that the Governments of the two countries [Burundi and Rwanda] should hold talks early, to find a solution to the problems, so that relations can be restored.
He said, “We want to have new talks between Rwanda and Burundi in order to find a solution to the problems.”
It is one way or the other that is possible between Burundi and Rwanda, as both parties have announced, both the Government of Rwanda and Burundi, saying that there is still hope that things will return to normal.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Government of Rwanda, Alain Mukuralinda, in a recent interview has said: “What Rwanda is doing is that it remains where it stands on the way to discuss any problem that may be there, on the way of negotiations so that things are understood that there is a problem and a solution should be found.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burundi, Amb Albert Shingiro also recently said that the relationship between this country and Rwanda is like a change in the weather, because even though it is bad today, it could be good tomorrow. .

Although President Evariste Ndayishimiye recently announced that members of the RED Tabara group are in Rwanda, the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has confirmed that the group has a base in Congo Kinshasa, and says that there have recently been talks aimed at helping members of this group. back home in Burundi.
