The transitional president of Guinea-Conakry, Lieutenant-General Mamadi Doumbouya, announced that he was satisfied with the way he was received in Rwanda and he thanked President Paul Kagame and Rwandans in general.
On Saturday, January 27, General Doumbouya ended his three-day visit to Rwanda, It was a visit that left him having discussions with his Rwandan counterpart focusing on how both sides will continue to develop the “relationship and cooperation” between Kigali and Conakry.
Gen Doumbouya also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial on Gisozi, and officially opened the Embassy of Guinea in Rwanda, President Paul Kagame who received him in honor when he arrived in Rwanda also accompanied him to the airport in Kanombe on Tuesday when he ended his visit.
General Mamadi Doumbouya, using his website X (formerly called Twitter), announced that he and the group of delegates who had come to accompany him were satisfied with the way they were received in Rwanda; praises President Paul Kagame.
He said “In closing a very important message about the cooperation between Guinea and Rwanda and strengthening the friendly relations between our two countries, I would like to thank President Paul Kagame and the Rwandans for the warm and friendly welcome, my delegation, my lady and myself we were rejected”.
Doumbouya emphasized that his visit to Kigali left the people of his country and Rwandans united “in the traditional culture of Africa.” It was the first time Doumbouya had visited Rwanda since September 2021 when he took power under the leadership of the President of Guinea-Conakry, Prof. Alpha Condé.”
His visit to Kigali came after President Kagame’s historic visit to Conakry (he was the first to visit Guinea since the Coup d’état) in April last year.
