The president of the World Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, said that within three months, the activities of skin-handling in the world of football should be stopped, due to the strict penalties that are being imposed.
He announced this at the General Assembly of the European Football Association (UEFA) that met on February 8, 2024, in Paris, France, In his address to the participants of the 48th General Assembly, he said that at the FIFA meeting that will be held in Thailand in May this year, there should be some decisions made about these inappropriate activities in Football.
He said, “In the last few months we have seen signs that the skin is getting worse. We will not accept it anymore, we must stop it and do everything we can to achieve it. The list is a sin. It is very sad that we have to wipe it out, In the next three months we must be together. Ahead of the FIFA conference in Bangkok on May 17, we will put in a lot of effort, together, to fight against sexism.”
Infantino also added that he supports that whenever there is a skin rash, the referee will immediately stop the game, After that, there should be sanctions that include deducting points from the team, fines and specific punishments for the fans who committed these acts, including expulsion from the stadium.
This comes days after a number of players have been heavily skinned including Sheffield Wednesday’s Kasey Palmer, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, Brentford’s Ivan Toney and others at various times, Last weekend a man was jailed for doing this to Birmingham’s Juninho Bacuna during the team’s 1-0 defeat to West Brom.
