The news has not been confirmed by the government but it has been confirmed by X that there was an attack in Gihanga in Burundi that killed 14 people including six Burundian soldiers.

This is in Bubanza County.

The news is also accompanied by a photo purportedly of the headquarters of the ruling party, CNDD-FDD, which was destroyed by a rocket attack.

One part of the building was destroyed.
Two cars were also set on fire in the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for this attack, but in the past few days there was another major attack by the fighters of RED Tabara in which about 20 people were killed and this group was defeated.
Burundian authorities assert that RED-Tabara operates with the support of Rwanda’s government.

“The government of Burundi once again deplores the behavior of Rwanda which maintains, trains and arms the terrorist group RED-Tabara,” said Niyonzima, the government spokesman.

Burundi last month suspended diplomatic relations with Rwanda and closed their border, calling it a response to Rwanda’s alleged backing of RED-Tabara. Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye has accused Rwandan authorities of supporting RED-Tabara.
