Congo has blamed Rwandan drones for shooting down in Goma

The spokesman of FARDC in North Kivu, Lt Col Ndjike Guillaume Kaiko said that the drones of the Rwandan military shot down civilian planes in the city of Goma.

Congo confirms that the bombs that were thrown at the international airport of Goma at around 8 am on February 17, 2024, were intended to destroy the country’s warplanes.
Lt Col Kaiko said that these combat drones left the territory of Rwanda and crossed the borders of Congo and shot down civilian planes.

It was an attack that he said affected the civilian planes because they were badly damaged.
He said, “The FARDC planes were not hit by the bombs of those drones, but the civilian planes were damaged.”
Meanwhile, there are reports that a FARDC Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft was damaged by two bombs that were allegedly dropped in Goma.
It was said that the source of the video posted on the X website is not known, Lt Col Kaiko said it was Rwanda.

The leadership of the Rwanda RDF has not officially announced anything about these new allegations of DR Congo.
