The government of Rwanda has condemned the harsh words of the President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, who spoke in Kinshasa, saying that he is against the process of strengthening Africanism, and that he should not be spoken by a person in such a position as he is.
In a statement released by the Government of Rwanda, he said that “he was saddened by the black and non-African words of the President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimoye, who spoke at an event in Kinshasa on January 21, 2024.”
Rwanda continues to say that as President Ndayishimiye who is in a position to protect the interests of the youth, peace and security in the African Union, he should not “accuse Rwanda of baseless accusations that inflame the hatred of divisions among Rwandans and disturb the peace and ‘security in the Great Lakes region.’
The Rwandan government continues to say that “Rwandans continue to work hard to unite and witness the development of the country. The youth of Rwanda have made use of this opportunity, and continue to play a role and contribute to building a better future.”
The government of Rwanda said that “anyone who tries to undermine this milestone achieved by asking the youth of Rwanda to remove their government, is in danger. But for the leader of the country of his neighborhood to do so, in the land of the United African Union, it is a serious violation of responsibility and it is also against the vision of the United African Union.
Rwanda concluded by saying that it has no interest in having a conflict with its neighbors, and that it will continue to work with its partners both in the region and outside of it to continue strengthening stability and building development.
The words of President Evariste Ndayishimiye were condemned by the Government of Rwanda, he said on Sunday January 21, 2024, when he gave a speech in front of more than 500 young people who had gathered in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ndayishimiye said that the people of the region are living well, but the problem is with some bad leaders, and he said that Rwandans also need to be freed.
At that time, he said, “I think that the youth of Rwanda cannot afford to continue being prisoners in the region.”
It is understandable that this leader wants the current administration in Rwanda to be removed, while it is setting an example for many countries in the world, for strengthening unity, sustainable development and doing everything possible to make the people of Rwanda live better.
This statement by Ndayishimiye comes after the recent accusations he made against Rwanda that it supports the RED-Tabara group that recently attacked his country, killing about 20 people, but Rwanda has denied these accusations saying that it has nothing to do with anyone who opposes the regime of in Burundi.
These words follow the decision taken by the Government of Burundi to close the border between this country and Rwanda and expel the Rwandans there.
