A UN plane crashes killing one person

A plane used by the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (WFP/PAM) to deliver aid to people suffering from hunger in Somalia has crashed, killing one person and injuring two others.

The plane, which was chartered to carry aid from WFP, crashed while taking off from its runway.

The United Nations sent a message of condolence to the workers who worked with the victims of the accident, and to wish the injured a speedy recovery.

The United Nations also announced that it is working with the Somali government and the company that leased the plane to investigate the cause of the crash.

A week ago, a United Nations helicopter was captured by the Islamic State group, Al-Shabab.
